Hi, I just want use FQDN in my networking environment. My SJPhone use FQDN register to OpenSER 1.2.2 but was rejected by 513 Message to big. However it can be registed use the same profile just replace FQDN to IP address. The DNS query process worked fine and got the right IP address.
My environment elments looks like: OpenSER 1.2.2 at host 192.168.1.120 / ipcsip.org DNS server at host 10.57.39.53 SJPhone at host 192.168.1.105
REGISTER package looks like:

I got same result evenif enabled dns & rev_dns in openser.cfg (dns=yes rev_dns=yes). So, What wrong with me? Coudle some give me some instructions?
Best regards, Steven Wu
I guess the message is looped by openser to itself (openser does not detect that it is reponsible for this domain) and tat some point the message gets too big (lots of Via headers)
You can verify this with "ngrep -d lo port 5060".
Make sure openser detects your domain as lokal domain, eg: alias=ipcsip.org

This occurs when the DNS points the domain to your OpenSer IP but OpenSer doesn't now that this domain is himself, so when it receives the request it performs a DNS query for that domain and forwards the request to that IP (OpenSer again!!!), so you get an infinite loop and each step the size is bigger since OpenSer adds a "Via" header in each step, until the request size is too big.
Add:
alias=my_domain
or add your domain in your /etc/hosts.
Hi I?aki,
I had tried add the domain in /etc/hosts. But it not work. Just add ailas=domain in profile works fine.
Best regards, Steven Wu

Yes, true. As Klaus has said you must active "auto_alias" in order OpenSer to read /etc/hosts.
