Stun server itself needs 2 IP addresses to work correctly. It will not
work just a Stun server with just one IP address.
You can have 2 stun servers, each on one interface, but each interface
should have 2 IP addresses.

Hi there,
I've been using Vovida's server for a while. Some UAs behaved properly
with it, some not. That's when I found myStun.
This are the UAs that I'm now using:
- Xten PRO
- Xten Lite
- Grandstream Budgetone 100
- MTA V102 ( from voipsolutions. It is an ATA ).
The last one could not just use vovida's server. It works great with
mystun.
To find out where is the problem, try this:
- First, see the output of myStun. Some clients do not build the stun
messages in a correct way.
- Make sure you are not behind a Symmetric NAT. If so, you're dead. STUN
does not work with Symmetric NAT.
- There are some stun clients that run under windows or linux. Try one
of those in those cases where your UA will not talk to stun. If the
application can talk to your stun server, your UA's stun client might
not be working correctly.
- Try to upgrade your UAs firmware.
- Lastly, it is always good to have different exits. I mean, install
both: myStun and Vovida's. Try first with one of those, if no answer,
try the other. myStun is working really nice with me, but it does not
mean vovida does not work at all.
Hope I helped.

Lucas

Right, I've left it going for a couple weeks and only 4 procs end up
with cpu time.. Not only that I've pounded the server and tested with
external scripts, I've never seen more than 4 being run at once.. All
the hints point to 4 as being the magic number.

Matt,
Why do you believe that you have been running out of processes? At any
given time you may have processes without CPU load, but over time the
processes should have some CPU time.
Have you run serctl ps? AFAIK, the standard number of processes for
each
protocol (udp/tcp) is 8 unless you specify children=x.
If a ser process blocks due to problems with mysql or a radius failover
situation, you may get a problem where all processes blocks.

I have pstn (isdn) gateway 192.168.0.163, and I make calls using prefix "8"
Here's a log from a local call (using CiscoATA186 and Wu-chuang Sipphone):
Apr 7 20:49:09 domenet /usr/sbin/ser[18289]: ACC: transaction answered:

<sip:493@192.168.0.122>;tag=ncHI214LorUb7iWW, code=200
. Apr 7 20:49:11 domenet /usr/sbin/ser[18283]: ACC: transaction answered:

<sip:493@192.168.0.122>;tag=ncHI214LorUb7iWW, code=200
And here's a log from calling to pstn (using Wu-chuang sipphone and pstn
gateway) to number 0506633351 (isdn:506633351) :
Apr 7 20:52:54 domenet /usr/sbin/ser[18284]: ACC: request acknowledged:
method=ACK, i-uri=sip:8506633351@192.168.0.163:5060,

<sip:493@192.168.0.122>;tag=QpR2G8JxdXTiq265, code=200
As You can see, there's no BYE message ,but only if the pstn-side
disconnects. If the LAN side disconnects, theres a succesfull BYE message.
I use forwarding to pstn using the loop:
if (loose_route())
{ t_relay(); break;
}
if (method=="INVITE") {
record_route();
};
setflag(1);
if (uri=~"^sip:8[0-9]{3}@*") {
log(1, "Forwarding to ISDN...");
rewritehostport ("192.168.0.163:5060");
t_relay();
log(1, "..forwarded\n");
break;
};
Moreover, calling PSTN there's only silence in LAN's side, although PSTN
hear LAN very good.
Where am i wrong ?

Just compile it with make in the source directory ...
I got some errors with the client compilation, but, oh well, I just
needed the server.
Then run ./server

Definitively, myStun. Vovida's one made me thought some clients were not
nat/stun friendly. But, same clients with myStun, worked just perfect
and I could just use voip nicely.

Do increasing child procs actually do anything? When I do a 'ps axu' I
only show 4 of the procs having CPU time, the rest having no cpu time at
all. Any thoughts on this? Thanks, Matt

Hi
I think I may have seen what is wrong, my problem I was getting the
error when I was getting the confirmation link, whereas I think you are
getting it when you are intially submitting it for a new user, if this
is true then ur calling the scripts under reg/ directory in serweb.
Also my version of serweb is $Id: INSTALL,v 1.15 2005/02/01 09:34:19
kozlik Exp $ from the INSTALL file, hence my configs are different, and
now I have changed the system so that I dont add names to subscriber but
add that to alias, and add the number to the subscriber table.
Anyhow in short what you need to look at is the registration page, it
will be calling a function which is adding the alias, this is in the
data_layer directory. Now in this function the alias must be using fifo
to add to the the alias directly. This is where the error is.
Sorry I cant be of more help I wish I had documented it better, but I
was flying through it like a headless chicken
But do note in the long run adding names to subscriber is NOT the best
way to go, since people will want to dial numbers, which they can, if
they are in alias, but if you want to add voicemail etc at alater date,
then to connect to the voicemail box from a handset dialing a number
which aliagns to the users number is better than trying to dial a
name...well thats my experience anyhow

Hello List;
I am going to install STUN server.
I have found from web that there have two avialable stun servers:
(I am not aware about any other avaiable stun server)
* vovida.org has an open source STUN server: vovida.org STUN server
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-vovida.org+STUN+server
* a Linux open source STUN server is also available here myStun
http://developer.berlios.de/projects/mystun/
I am not sure which one to pick.
Any suggession? Your opnion would really help me.
Thanks,
Mohammad
