One would use a TFTP server to download the firmware and config files to IP Phone 7960
I suggest you used a Windows-based TFTP server and put the files in the default dir of your TFTP server.
All the files need to be downloaded available from Cisco Web site but you need a COO account.
Hope this helps
Thanks

Hello,
I installed the server SER he works well with users agents software
as (MSNMessenger 4.6, SJPHONE), with regard to IPphone as cisco 7960 I
have a problem it is that he cannot look for the server SER, during
his functioning, what is that nobody can help me to know where from
comes the problem,
With regard to the server TFTP is what that is the same that of the
server SER,
anybody knows where is files to be downloaded on the server TFTP.
7.2.2. On the TFTP server load these files:
a. OS79XX - Identifies which firmware the phone should load
with no extension. Example: P0S3-04-1-00
b. P0S3-04-1-00.bin - The firmware image
c. SIPDefault.cnf - Site wide configuration options
d. SIPmacaddress.cnf - Phone specific settings, including logon
name and password. Example: SIP000A8A93D466.cnf
e. RINGLIST.DAT, ringer1.pcm, ringer2.pcm - ring tones
Thank you for advance
Hassan

One other quick thing to check, make sure that the account name that the
phone uses to logon is
entered in the config files exactly as you have it in SER.
The second item is whether the the phone is using a realm/domain name to
register or an IP
address. If it is using an IP address, your script needs to test for
that to allow the
phone to register.

Try to capture the SIP traffic using ngrep, for example, to see if the
phone sends any messages to the server.

There can be any number of reasons for the problems you are having.
1. Are you using DHCP or manually assigning the settings to the phone?
In either case have you set the proxy_server address?
2. Is the phone already running a SIP firmware?
The TFTP server can be the same box, or a different one. The only
benefit to a separate system is to reduce non-SIP related traffic from
your proxy. I'm cheap and lazy, so I have the DHCP and TFTP services
running on the same box as SER.
As to where to find the Cisco files, that is a tricky bit. The first file
is only one line of text, no big deal to create from scratch. The .cnf
files are also something that would not be a problem to get someone to
share with you. The firmware image is another issue, if your phone is
not already running a SIP image. To get a copy from Cisco, you need a
Smartnet contract. You won't find a lot of people willing to share the
file, as Cisco could get unpleasent is you redistribute their firmware.
Some one posted here a short while back that adding Smartnet to a single
phone is about US $70 a year.

G'day
I have setup a default install of SER with a mysql backend, it works
fine with MSN messenger, but I am having having issues with a Cisco 7960 IP
phone, I have installed the SIP firmware on it, and have got the default
config files from Cisco website. The phone appears not to be registering
with the ser server, I can't dial it or from it, and it doesn't show up in
'serctl showdb'
If anybody can point me in the right direction or send me a working
SIPDeafault.cnf and SIPmacaddress.cnf files, that would be great.
Thanks

Hi,
I'm accounting for missed calls onto MySQL everything fine. But Serweb
doesn't show the missed calls so checking on missed_calls.php line 29:
$q="select distinct t1.from_uri, t1.sip_from, t1.time, t1.sip_status
from "
$config->table_missed_calls." t1, ".$config->table_aliases."
t2".
" where t1.username='".$auth->auth["uname"].
"' OR ('sip:".$auth->auth["uname"]."@".$config->default_domain.
"'=t2.contact AND t2.username=t1.username) ".
" order by time desc";
Is the line that make the actual query to DB so I run the following
queries on MySQL (v3.23.49):
mysql> select t1.from_uri,t1.username from missed_calls t1 where
t1.username='5624108980';
+-----------------------------------------+------------+
| from_uri | username |
+-----------------------------------------+------------+
| sip:5624108990@192.168.65.14;user=phone | 5624108980 |
+-----------------------------------------+------------+
1 row in set (0.00 sec)
Fine so far, but if check for the something similar as serweb's query:
mysql> select t1.from_uri,t1.username from missed_calls t1, aliases t2
where t1.username='5624108980' OR ('5624108980@marte'=t2.contact AND
t2.username=t1.username);
Empty set (0.01 sec)
If I understand correctly the idea of the query is to get that missed
calls that match the username or an alias, in my case I have not aliases
defined; but since the query uses OR for aliases part I don't know why
the query gets an empty set.
BTW I'm no SQL fluent :)

Hi Simon,
Could you send me the files of the SIP firmware for the 7960
(kapelios(a)yahoo.com). I have recently found one device, but I am not yet
able to change it to SIP.
My ATA is successfully working with ser and as soon as I find the sip
firmware for 7960, I could make a try.
George
I don't know exactly what I have configured, but this configuration works.
If you haven't changed the default passwords, then remove the
modparam("acc", "db_url","sql://ser:serXXXX@localhost/ser")
lines.

Put setflag(3) also into the loose_route condition. Do I understand it
correctly that INVITEs get logged while BYEs not ?
