It depends on what the requirement for the SBC are. Many companies tell
you this, but they can't tell you why. Ask them which task the SBC must
handle. Then you will know if you can make it also with opensource
(ser/asterisk).
IMO must scenarions can also be handled with open source avoiding the
SBC mafia.
