PA still does not have support to SUBSCRIBE to contacts. What you can do is set up PA so that it only handles presence for users who register against and publish presence information to your SER server, and to forward subscribe requests belonging to other registrars or UAs.
i added pa module to SER and a had this errors in response to a SUBSCRIBE request
parse_hfs(): Error while parsing headers
I would have to see the message to be able to tell what is wrong. Which UA was generating the subscription? Which version of SER?

Hi Jamey, I have a similar Error , when using MSN Messenger Ver 4.6, and Ser-0.9.0 , Please let me know if you have any hints to look for problems !

Hi I think the pb is that the SUBSCRIBE requests that sends Windows Messenger does not contain an "Expires" header as defined in RFC3265 ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc3265.txt

Hi to all,
I finally got to make my pa module SER to work but I found a strange behaviour with METHOD Notify :(maybe this is just the way it works :-)).
When I tried to change my presence state from connected to busy, SER notifies to which is suscribed but instead of sending a busy status, it send a OPEN status. In fact any change on status presence is notified as OPEN. Whe the user is disconnected then SER notifies with CLOSED. Does the pa module workds like this?, if not, how cani configure my SER to make it send the right state presence?.

Maybe a problem of incompatibel xml-tags?
The PUBLISH is of type application/pidf+xml (which client?).
The NOTIFY uses type application/xpidf+xml.
Maybe the pa module does not handle im:imbusy</im:im> correct. I suggest take a look at the code.
regards, klaus

The PUBLISH had open status so the NOTIFY had open status. The <basic> status really only indicates that the SIP UA is online. The <note> element indicates busy or do not disturb. I'm in the process of adding support for the note element to SER PA.

This is the notification that I recieve (from myself ;-)).
The PUBLISH had open status so the NOTIFY had open status. The <basic> status really only indicates that the SIP UA is online. The <note> element indicates busy or do not disturb. I'm in the process of adding support for the note element to SER PA.

Thanks again! Just one more question. If a user PUBLISH a xml-pidf document, Is this document received in the Notify?. In the example that I included in my first e-mail, the "real status" of the user was in the im:imbusy</im:im> tag, but not in the <note> tag. This tag corresponds to the doc referenced by <presence xmlns="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:pidf" xmlns:im="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:pidf:im" entity="pres:jesus@guadalmar.hi.inet">
It seems for the SER answer that all the tags different from xmlns="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:pidf" are ignored...
Thank you very much for your help!!!

Hi to all,
I finally got to make my pa module SER to work but I found a strange behaviour with METHOD Notify :(maybe this is just the way it works :-)).
When I tried to change my presence state from connected to busy, SER notifies to which is suscribed but instead of sending a busy status, it
send
a OPEN status. In fact any change on status presence is notified as OPEN. Whe the user is disconnected then SER notifies with CLOSED. Does the pa module workds like this?, if not, how cani configure my SER to make it
send
the right state presence?.

PA is currently constructing a new NOTIFY body after parsing the incoming PUBLISH. I don't think that is the right strategy in the long term, except for generating legacy PUBLISH bodies e.g. for xpidf format.
