Could someone please explain the difference between MediaProxy and RTPproxy? I see that others have ask this before, but no response was given. Thank you
RTPProxy is C based (more concurrent calls supported) but need run in the same box as SER, dont support distributed architecture. MediaProxy is Python based, support less concurrent calls than rtpproxy but support distribution of calls across multiple servers in diferent locations based in DNS.

My understand is that it's simply two diffent approaches to solving the same problem -- NATed clients.
I thought I read something a while ago that these projects probably shouldn't have been seperate but rather merged or something because of all the confusion.
Fundamentally the biggest difference, AFAIK, is mediaproxy is written in Python and rtpproxy is written in C. Also, rtpproxy isn't so nice when it comes to seeing exactly what it is doing whereas mediaproxy is much more verbose.
Regards, Paul
P.S. - I'm using rtpproxy and it works really well. I'm even routing my Asterisk voicemail traffic through it.

I posted my entire working ser.cfg using rtpproxy back on November 20 2004.
The subject line was "Re: [Serusers] Revisted Error: force_rtp_proxy2: can't extractbodyfrom the message"
Take a look at that as see if it helps.
