Hello everyone,
I need to setup Music on hold feature and I did all modifications in configuration file and did all steps for setup: 1- load MOH and all requirement modules . 2- rtpproxy setups and works correctly 3- mohqueue and mohqcalls tables created. 4- audio file with type index (novanet.8) exists 5- parameters of MOH module setup and mohq_process() function called in request_route(). 6- table mohqueue initiated like this: +----+------+----------------------------+-------------------+---------+-------+ | id | name | uri | mohdir | mohfile | debug | +----+------+----------------------------+-------------------+---------+-------+ | 1 | main | sip:main at 191.38.245.2 | /var/kamailio/MOH | novanet | 1 | +----+------+----------------------------+-------------------+---------+-------+
Kamailio starts successfully and no error appears , call setup but on hold doesn't work and no audio file plays. I review all previous mailing lists responses but no one answers completely and before me others had this problem.

i quickly checked, the mohqueue module had some changes in git master recently. Just to get some more details:
- which version of Kamailio are you using?
- do you get any error message in the log related to this module?
- have you tried to debug the problem, e.g. with a SIP trace and observe what is happening on the network level?

I use kamailio-5.2.3 . there isn't any error , I traced log files. call established and after matching RURI with URI in mohqueue table on hold state, mohq_process() function returns true but no sounds plays or I can't hear anything .

Hi Maryam,
you activated debug for the module. Quickly looked into the code, is there some moqh debug output in your logs that might get some more hints? If not, maybe there is a problem with the syslog cfg on the machine?

Hi Maryam,
Does the music file payload match the RTP payload that the far end supports? https://kamailio.org/docs/modules/stable/modules/mohqueue.html#audiofiles shows that a filename ending in .8 should be A-Law encoded.
Perhaps you can check the SDP and RTP in your capture and verify that A-Law is what's negotiated and that it's what's playing. Perhaps also check using your audio encoding program of choice whether A-Law is what's been encoded in the file itself,

If you aren't hearing any sounds then there is an issue with RTP. Did you turn on the mohqueue debug https://www.kamailio.org/docs/modules/stable/modules/mohqueue.html#rpc.debug parameter? If so, the logs should show RTP connectivity messages.
