There was a similar post on Aug 13th. I'm having the same problem [http://lists.iptel.org/pipermail/serusers/2003-August/002259.html] and I've already tried the suggested solutions.
Basically, on the user login or the admin login of serweb, when I type a username and password and press login or <enter> the page blanks, reloads to the login page, and does nothing. I get no errors of any kind.
I have register_globals=On in php.ini. I'm relatively sure my php.ini is in the correct place [i.e. is being used by the server] How would I check this? My subscriber table in mysql has the correct domain in the domain column for all my users, including admin. I believe that I've made all the changes in Dan Austins HOWTO for serweb/php configuration.
RedHat 9.0 kernel 2.4.20-20smp ser 0.8.11 (i386/linux) main.c, v 1.162.2.5
PHP 4.3.1 Apache 2.0.40
Any ideas? Thanks, G.

Hello,
check your apache logs. If there are any error messages, like that the server cannot find serweb images, you will have to put img subdirectory of serweb somewhere where it will be reachable. Check in the logs where it tries to find the images and put them there.

Jan, There are no errors in the apache logs. All the images load just fine. A login attempt just redirects me back to the login screen. I don't see any error messages in /var/log/messages or in /etc/httpd/logs/error_log.
Thanks, G.

Hello all,
I've solved my own problems. I discoved ./php -i which told me that the path for php.ini was different than I expected. I made a mistake in the configuration switch syntax.
I also discovered that I was using an old version of the serweb files. May I suggest that the serweb file tar's be released with a version number matching the ser release versions?
Also, I tested the soft phone from SIPPS [ http://www.sippstar.com/en/index.html ]. Its a very nice setup. It has a built in answer machine, transfers call correctly, redirects calls, does conference calling [only 3 users maximum.] It also provides a readout of network performance and packet quality which is pretty cool, and a choice of skins. They give a free 3 month trial license, and then a license is US $25.

Thank's -- that's a hint which should appear in documentation someday.

Serweb in the distribution is aligned to SER. ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/ser/latest/ It is tagged as "rel_8_11".

Other phone you can look at is x-lite -- the lite version is completely free.

The actual serweb.tar.gz file has no version number in the name. This was my suggestion, to actually put a version number in the name as you do with ser and sems.
I have tried x-lite and x-pro. They both have limited functionality. X-Pro is supposed to have a greater feature set, but as I reported before, call transfer is not supported, nor is redirect, or built in answer machine.

I tried the SIPPs phone. It was really a good piece of work! I had a few issues with interaction with my gateway (a To: was being presented) . They said the repair was not high priority, but they would get to it on the next release. I agree, it is pretty nice. I'll download it again and report my experience.

Try create file phpinfo.php with content:
<? phpinfo(); ?>
and put it somewhere into your www tree. Display this file in your browser and you will see your current configuration of php. Make sure if register_globals is set to On.
