Hello,
I have working ser with all the db modules and lcr. I want to send useralias as caller id in place of user name. Say I have a ser account with the name testaccount, and an alias 15556667777 to the user testaccount. So if some one calls 15556667777 and the call will go to testaccount. Now if testaccount make an call then in the caller id I see testaccount. How can I send 15556667777 as caller ID when, testaccount make a PSTN call. I guess I can also use uri table and use the caller id from uri_user in place of username. But I dont know how can I do that. I tried this, modparam ("uri", uri_user_column", "uri_user") where the default is set for username. But That did not help.
Thank you, -Jai
Hi,
Chancing the from is not something wich should be done in ser. But, There is something called Remote-party-ID (rpid) wich you can use.
This fetches a string out from th database, and puts it into the rpid header.
This is what I would do if I ran 0.9.X ser.. on 2.0 it's a compleatly different story I think:-)

for ottendorf:
If you are adding a new user, use a command like this: ser_attr add uid=UID asserted_id="PID" (see the quick starter guide under http://www.iptel.org/new_major_ser_pre_release_ottendorf_is_out_for_testing)
The bottom line is that caller id, like any other user characteristics (call forwarding URIs, credit card number, shoe color, etc.) are stored in a normalized way in the table user_attrs. From there, it they are retrieved during call prcessing and used to print caller ID header field (asserted identity typically).
