Dear Kamailio'ns
I am working on Kamailio (V 4.0)+ Mediaproxy server (2.5.2) running on Ubuntu 12.04. I am experiencing some Latency, jitter, pixelled, choppy video errors in my set-up. So i wanted to increase buffer sizes of my kamailio server , Mediaproxy server and Ubuntu also. In that regards i have increased Shared memory value to 512 MB and Package memory value 16 MB. BUFFER SIZE value to 8 MB in *config.h* file,
But where can i change the value for 'MAX_RECV_BUFFER_SIZE' of kamailio?
And are there any settings to increase Buffer Size of Mediaproxy server ?
Is this changes will affect on my issues ?
PS: I even changed ubuntu settings also : net.core.rmem_max= 8388608 net.core.wmem_max= 8388608 (but these values reset to default values again when i restarted system.)
Please help me in resolving this issues.
Any help will appreciate.
Regards, Ravi
What..!
Who gave you the idea that increasing memory buffers has ANYTHING to do with jitter and latency? These are network problems and have nothing to do with shared or package memory. Especially in case of kamailio + mediaproxy which merely relay media from one end to another (no transcoding, repacketization etc. involved).
Please try to understand the problem before attempting to fix it. Have a look at this,

Thank you.

Dear Muhammad Shahzad,
Thank you for the reply,
Yes I got the things clear. But in my case its happening like this :
When i Try to Audio/video calls using mediaproxy server running with Kamailio server, i am getting pixelled video and jitter in audio calls. But when i run the calls without running mediaproxy instance (only with kamailio), everything goes fine. All this are happening when i connect my SIP clients (IMSDroid) to the single Wi-FI access point. But when i connect my SIP clients to kamailio server using two access points, i am experiencing one-way audio problem, For this reason i have to run mediaproxy server with kamailio, but when i run mediaproxy instance Audio/video calls are not OK.
(SofFor the above mentioned scenarios i just thought of increase Buffer Memory sizes in Mediaproxy and Kamailio server).
What could be the problem with my above mentioned set-up?
how can i resolve this issue?
Please help me.
Regards, Ravi

How would an increased receive buffer in Kamailio help media issues?
And is an increased buffer in Mediaproxy going to help latency?
In my opinion, but I may be wrong, more buffers in the core generally does not improve the network.

Dear Olle E. Johansson
Thank you for the comment on the issue.
Ya i accept your comment that increasing buffers will not help media improvements.
And regarding this mediaproxy issue as i mentioned in previous mail, i got something clue about iptable (which is pre-requisity of mediaproxy server) firewall configuration settings.
Is there any chance this IPtable firewall configuration (default settings) can drop the packets ? if it is so how can i configure this iptable firewall to allow SIP and RTP streams to pass through ?
Please help me in resolving this issue.
