You should use 0.9.4 from the tarball. 0.9.5-pre1 will be released as
0.9.5 once we fix some remaining bugs.

Sorry, I didn't explain well enough.
I am using the SER 0.9.x stable branch. " cvs co -r rel_0_9_0 sip_router"
but it's version 0.9.5-pre1 .. However, on the website there is version
0.9.4 in a tarball for download.
Is 0.9.5-pre1 stable, or should I use the 0.9.4 downloadable tarball?

Darren,
If you're using SER with paying customers (or at least important
customers) then I'd recommend using the SER-0.9.x stable branch.
The primary reason is that the CVS HEAD is unstable and likely has
undiscovered bugs.
