MediaProxy2 uses the Linux kernel for routing packets. So it uses all the cores and CPUs recognized by the kernel.

Not in my testing. Thus far I have only ever seen a single CPU core get utilized by MediaProxy - with a very few calls being processed before audio problems and very significant delays start showing themselves.

Would be interesting to get info on your server that you're having problems with Jeremy.
Linux Distro / Version Hardware Conntrack Library Version Python Version MediaProxy and OpenSIPS Version GCC Version
Might be something in there somewhere.

The latest CentOS. 64 bit platform. I will need to get back in touch with that customer for any more specific details, as I don't necessarily have access to their system any longer. They wanted to use MediaProxy, so I configured it for them, but ultimately we ended up using Asterisk for RTP/etc.
Jeremy McNamara
If that's the case, have you even used MediaProxy 2.x in production? Even 2.0.3 hasn't been out that long.
Just curious why you'd complain and then not be able to offer any specifics? Not flaming you or anything, just makes it tough to answer any of your claims or try and reproduce something when we don't have anything to go on. "Latest CentOS" really doesn't mean anything. With all the variables involved, there isn't anything specific there that'd help us try and help you.
Granted, I'm not aware if you've got any other posts regarding this issue, but if there are it's nothing recent that I can recall.
If you're willing to post your configs, and detailed specs., we can all try and find out what's going on with your / their setup.
I would be curious to see what's going on.
Cheers,
- Darren

I did this last week when someone contacted me to install OpenSER+MediaProxy since they have tried and failed. I worked their configuration into a functional situation. Once they started sending their calls thru this system, they called me back with complaints about audio problems.
Mediaproxy app was solid at 100% cpu - in top - running 205 simultaneous calls.
Since this customer was not paying me for development assistance, I suggested we move to Asterisk as he stated he also needed to be able to transcode between codecs and someday wanted their own voicemail solution - so that situation made sense to use Asterisk.

I wasn't asking for help.

I would have to lab it up - as I said this was for someone looking for a functional solution, not development or research.
If someone has a compensation plan for development and/or research, please feel free to contact me.

Well, it's obvious now you've got a negative attitude anyways and trying to constructively help solve whatever situation you've got would be pointless.
Cheers,

Your personal experience with this product was always negative, if I read though your mailing lists posts in the last years. You never missed a single opportunity to through some mud at it.
It is such a waste of time to say on the mailing lists the same negative things all over again, everyone knows your opinions about this matter.
Why are you so concerned about its performance and keep complaining about a software that you never liked is a dilema.

You are awfully defensive. Just the same, if you examine the mailing lists you are not receptive to suggestion or constructive criticism, for whatever reasons....
Also, if I hated MediaProxy so much, why did I make my own tutorial(s) for others to learn from? http://tinyurl.com/2o96a
I happen to live in a free country and until I get told by a moderator that my opinions based on real world experiences are no longer wanted on this mailing list, I will provide my opinion to help others in their efforts of learning OpenSER/Kamaillio/Whatever its called this week.....
