Hi,

We are testing ser since several weeks and it works great. Now we want to start testing an external gateway. Do you have any advice about the better choice for an E1/T1 SIP gateway? Thanks.

SEMS, the media complement of SER, includes an ISDN gateway module. Whereas we haven't announced it yet, it is already being tested and deployed and it looks reasonably well today. Feel free to give it a try.

Thanks. Did you already test in under FreeBSD and with which ISDN card?

I am not sure about FreeBSD, I think we tested Fritz and Eicon cards -- Uli will certainly tell you more.

we do not support freebsd yet, but as we support CAPI the porting should not be too hard. It is on the todo, but other things like stability are more important. Btw: Is linux such a bad choice?

Linux is not a bad choice but we are already managing a park of FreeBSD servers. It's mainly a question of internal knowledge. We already got installation procedure, security procedures, backups, upgrade process, ... for FreeBSD. Linux and FreeBSD are both Unix but the configuration to obtain a secure box is quite different.

Allthough i am a friend of Linux/*BSD boxes i can only recommend a cisco router for this. Used/Refurbished Cisco 5300 are relativley cheap to get this days.
