Hi,

first of all be sure you modem is properly configure as a serial terminal: use minicom to test if the modem responds to AT commands via the serial device (/dev/ttySx usually).

once having this done, see readme: http://openser.org/docs/modules/1.1.x/sms.html

there is no need for a mysql support for the sms gateway.
