Is there a trick to getting the mysql.so to compile and install as part of the stable source from CVS ?

remove mysql from exclude_modules in Makefile. If you wish to use mysql accoutning, uncomment DEFS=+-SQL_ACC in modules/acc/Makefile.

why is there a exclude_modules for mysql in the makefile? Is it because you dont need mysql to run ser?

Mysql is not compiled by default because it requires mysql development files (header files, libraries) and the sources should compile even if it is not installed.
