The client in Mariadb is: mariadb-client
in mysql: mysql-client
kamailio-mysql-modules: depends of mysql-client
but if mariadb-client is installed, mysql-client is a conflict.
would a solution be, that kamailio-mysql-modules depends of mysql-client
OR mariadb-client?

IIRC this is a bug in the mariadb packages, they fail to provide the mysql
equivalent.
