When you try to load mysql.so module for your ser, you get an error. bad config. if you do ser -D -E . The result shows that mysql.so was unable to load due to libmysqlclient.so.12 was not found. Please note that the above mentioned Red Hat Linux includes a MySQL server version 3.23 which does not include the above file. If you do prefer to upgrade your mysql server please do not upgrade it to MySQL 5.0 rather upgrade it to 4.15. You are note done yet. Go to mysql.com and try to find out the following rpm file: MySQL-shared-compat-4.1.10a-0 RPM for i386 This file is from 4.1.10 which includes libmysqlclient.so.12 that is not present 4.1.15. Once downloaded install the file using the following command: rpm -i MySQL-shared-compat-4.1.10a-0.i386.rpm --force Hope this helps.
