And are you using a CVS version of ser and latest serweb version ? We tried to install both on a new machine couple days ago and it worked fine, that's why I am asking.

Nothing has been changed on line 172 of the functions.php file and the ser_fifo file exists

the /tmp directory with 0 bytes size.
