Nick,
The web interface depends on MySQL 5 for views. Unfortunately, I had to do
this in order to not break compatibility with openserctl. Anyway, it should
only break the user prefences section.
Sorry that Rails is such a pain, it's even worse if your system doesn't have
ruby installed by default.

By the way, while ruby on rails might be a great development platform,
it's a right pain in the behind to install.
