do "ulimit -c unlimited" in order to
get the core (if indeed is a coredump).
if you get the core, send us please the backtrace.

Could you describe what's happening? Is ser dying siltenly on startup?
If so, does it produce a coredump? (you might have to set the core file
limits: ulimit -c unlimited; ser -w dir_were_to_dump_the_core ...)
What version of ser are you using? (ser -V)
