There are the warning fixes which are not yet in any 3.0 branch. A merge with andrei/pointer_alias_warnings should work (it's an older pre-3.0 branch so there shouldn't be any conflict with any changes in 3.0).
OTOH this is only cosmetic stuff, so it can wait.
