Adding regex support for prefix shouldn't be very hard. Unfortunately, right now I'm busy with some other stuff, but maybe latter on I can work on it.

i don't remember the details anymore, but db mode didn't support some other feature that we have in caching mode. but the main reason for dropping db mode was performance, which got very poor (because of mysql LIKE) when number of gw/lcr entries got bigger.
