Hi, on Debian I have these packages (related to mysql) installed and it works for me:
python2.3-mysqldb python-mysqldb libqt3c102-mt-mysql mysql-query-browser mysql-admin-common mysql-common mysql-query-browser-common libdbd-mysql-perl mysqlcc mysql-client mysql-doc-4.1 mysql-server-4.1 mysql-admin libmysqlclient14 libmysqlclient12 libmysqlclient10 php3-mysql libmysqlclient14-dev mysql-common-4.1 mysql-client-4.1
I'm using python 2.3.

Hello,
I found the tool and had to install Python-MySQL to get it work, Only now I get an error indicating:
ser_domain: (1251, 'Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client'): OperationalError
I had a similar problem while getting to run the SER server, but I solved that then to update the mysql-client and mysql-client-devel packages. (Before that time I was running MySQL 5.0, but compiling SER with version 3.2 client libraries).
Currently, the following versions are installed: mysql-4.1.18-1.fc3.remi mysql-devel-4.1.18-1.fc3.remi mySQL-shared-4.1.19-0.i386 (tried before also 4.1.18) mySQL-shared-compat-4.1.19-0.i386 (tried before also 4.1.18) MySQL-python-0.9.2-4.i386
Hope someone can shine a light on this!
Kind regards, Paul Heijmann.

Hi, I think that new serctl (in tools/serctl in source tree) works. May be the old serctl version doesn't work (it is still installed), but this doesn't correctly work with CVS SER too...
In the presence handbook is described how to add users using new serctl (I really tried it and it seemed to be working). Vaclav

Hi,
I installed the presence snapshot (4.1) of SER but I have a problem that SERCTL doesn't work. It appears to be that the structure of the database has been changed.
There seems to be a serctl in the package that I downloaded, but it seems to be the source, or part of that. I can't get it to work and I want to add some users to the database.
Any ideas how to solve this?
Kind regards, Paul Heijmann.
