Subject: [Serusers] SER starter
Hello,
I have just finished to install SER for the first time and I followed the instructions from the document How To SER.
But I have some doubts:
-->I put on the variabel SIP_DOMAIN the host name of my computer which is in the DNS server. Is this correct or should I put the IP address of my proxy machine?
-->In the ser.cfg file I change the "mydomain.com" to the host name of my machine. Is it Ok?
-->I have my MySql database running, with the ser database created and with a defualt admin user. But I coudn't register my SIP phone in my proxy. The phone gives this error: " Proxy registration failed. Disabling proxy. Reason: registration denied (SIP/2.0 483 Too Many Hops)" Note: I have already uncommented the database lines in ser.cfg like was said in the instrations.
This sounds like:
http://www.iptel.org/ser/doc/seruser/seruser.html#AEN1039
it's ok to use "mydomain.com", but you also have to set this at your SIP phone
Klaus
Any help with be very apreciated.
Thank you.

^^
not sure, but I think this will compare on regular expressions. You
would have to escape the dots, eg. =~"10\.0\.0\.1", or use == or use
==myself and add the domain/IP address using the alias= dircetive.

Hi,
I'm trying to setup asterisk vm, but in the examples and doc, it
always mention that the phones need to register to asterisk.
Can I have asterisk receive a call from a sip proxy (ser) intended for
a user who register his phone with ser and not asterisk ?
So far the usage of ser and asterisk is one where the phones register
to asterisk and if they call out it's going through a UA who is
asterisk registering to the SIP proxy.
But what if I need the phones to register only with SER ?
Is this feasable ?
Thanks.
Samy.
Hi,
I've just committed my RadiusClientNG change, which affects all modules
that support Radius. Therefore, to compile ser from a trunk you need an
up-to-date version of radiusclient library (0.4.0 or higher) available
from https://developer.berlios.de/projects/radiusclient-ng/.
Please let me know if there are any problems with this change.

SIP signaling goes through ser, RTP audio will be sent directly from SIP
UA to SIP UA (except you use rtpproxy for NAT traversal).
