---------- OK, if that's the order -- then the comments from removed lines were erroneous.

But the patch still breaks the current behavior when one wanted not for fork to give -D in command line. The patch introduces a mandatory value for -D. There is an option to make the value optional using '::' instead of ':' for getopt() options argument. But it is GNU specific.

My opinion is still to fix the help message and keep the parameter as it is -- that will allow backporting as well. ----------
