Hi!
I noticed that Ovidiu is migrating commands away from the MI interface, removing existing
commands and adding replacements using RPC.
Is there a general policy to do this? What about backwards compatibility with apps that
use the MI today?
I know that there's an old decision about deprecating MI, but haven't seen any
movement towards that goal until now, so I just wanted to check.

Hello,
there is no definitive timeline for this migration. I would rather keep
old mi commands and develop rpc alternative. When both of them are in
all places, then it should be cut at once. Otherwise can be a mixed
situation, when one has to implement both protocols.
For new modules, the decision of developer can be to go only for rpc, if
it considered that mi will cost too much time.

If we want to encourage people to move away from mi (due to memory
fragmentation) it would make sense to implement only rpc for new
modules.
