Yes, the patches to tls module will be in nightly builds. But again, they just skipped setting the locking functions for libssl/libcrypto, being not used and the compiler throwing unused functions warnings.
Probably you can link against libssl 1.0, but you need to update the deb specs and/or Makefile for tls module.
