I made it a void function because the original code does not abort processing if SQLGetData fails in the inner loop - it just reports the error and goes to the next cell. I wanted to preserve the original code structure as much as possible. Looking back, a memory error might deserve a different treatement from a SQLGetData failure.
BTW, db_unixodbc seems to make the assumption that all data saved and loaded is text data without embedded nulls. Is this a valid assumption?
