rtpproxy does more now than packet forwarding (e.g., playing audio, moh, 
repacketization ...), therefore needs to stay in user space, see:
http://www.rtpproxy.org.

For performance reasons, if one needs just packet forwarding, there is a 
lightweight module that can be used:
