If you ever port it to Asterisk trunk, I think it would be nice to have 
it also using a configured header for peer detection, eg: 
X-Asterisk-Peer: 1.2.3.4:5080.

Then it could be even more generic and used in more scenarios (e.g. with 
multiple proxies).
