Another difference is version number. Some types might be missing in 
previous version.

I don't think so. Note however that full Oracle Client installation 
might not include OCI headers by default, (i.e. you have to select 
them manually during the installation at least on Windows). I guess 
this is not your case, so could you send me the archived contents of 
the folder with your Oracle client include files? TIA

BTW, we have no problems using SER + Instant Client 10 which connects 
to Oracles Server 9.
