[Serusers] How to build in SER modules statically for profiling?

We used to use the static_modules for gprof profiling long time ago succesfully but we haven't
done that for quite a while. I think it would take some code pollishing to make sure it is
workable again. If you do that, please let me know -- I would be keen to learn the results.
