You don't have to. Luckily unstable nathelper works perfectly with
stable ser (well latest stable ser cvs to be more precise).
So you need only to get the unstable nathelper and recompile:
mv modules/nathelper modules/nathelper.old
cvs co -rHEAD modules/nathelper
make all
...
