[Serusers] cisco phone domain

an easy way to deal with it is use of DNS SRV. Create
a DNS/SRV record refering SRV-wise to sip.mydomain.edu for
mydomain.edu and configure your Cisco with mydomain.edu.
All the sip communication will then display nicely mydomain.edu,
but the sip.mydomain.edu server will be actually used.
