Well, that's more or less distribution-specific, and i doubt we can
catch all variants. Maybe check which locations autoconf scripts
of famous PostgreSQL clients (e.g. PHP?) use?

it's an error now. Might be wise that it behaves that way. It's better
to experience immediate failure ;)

yes, i did. I'm just using a view of my existing database as "subscriber" 
table right now, but i'm planning to extend that to location, domain and
accounting info as well over the next week. I'll keep you informed.
