- fixed memory leak when using BLOB - the PQunescapeBytea() allocates 
  a new string for the result.
  Credits go to Klaus Darilion <klaus.mailinglists at pernau.at>
  Closes patch 1725396

- also some beautifications to make the code easyer to read.
