Hello Bogdan,

ok, i'll upload the the patch to the tracker. The original patch misses some 
copyright headers in the new files, i'll add them. As i wrote before, this 
needs more testing and is not the right thing for 1.2, for sure.

We use threads due the better interprocess communication and locking 
possibilities. And to some extend this was also a matter of taste, of 
course.. :-)

P.S. Thank you for the suggestions regarding the log_helper function, i'll 
look into this.
