Yes, it is defined in the same file q_malloc.c where it is referenced.
Weird that ld does not find it.

Yes, I have turned memory debugger off:

sed -i -e 's/MEMDBG ?= 1/MEMDBG ?= 0/' $SRC_DIR/src/Makefile.defs

but why would it matter?
