I assume the hyphen (`-`) between $(au{s.select,0,-}{s.toupper}) and
$(au{s.select,1,-}) is meant to be a string literal. 

If so, try this but without encapsulating the transformations in quotes,
i.e.:

   $var(account) = "" + 
                   $(au{s.select,0,-}{s.toupper}) + 
                   "-" + 
		   $(au{s.select,1,-});

You might also get a cleaner result out of:
