[SR-Users] load_credentials into non-AVP PVs

When I try this:

    modparam("auth_db", "load_credentials", "$var(x)=some_col");

I get a parse error:

   malformed or non AVP $var(customer_bg_id) AVP definition

Is there any particular reason these days why auth_db columns have to be 
loaded to AVPs only?
