You are right.   The problem wasn't in subst_uri, the original message was

Hi Gustavo,

not sure the error relays in subst_uri... As the log shows, the error is 
spit out by parse_msg() function which is called before script execution 
- actualy, in this case, the script never gets executed....are you 
spiralling the message on the proxy?

anyhow, could you post the net capture of the request as received and 
sent out by openser? it will help
