Hi Jan,

I've done as you suggested and configured both servers with the same
secret and it now works a treat! I can now get both servers to perform
authentication on the sip user agent.

Yes, this is correct. If you have two servers performing digest
authentication then you must either configure them to use different
realm (which also means that you can use only user agents that support
it) or configure both servers with the same secret, see "secret"
parameter of auth module.
