There is quite some substantial differences between SER 2.x and
Kamailio. However, they are at a level further up -- most importantly
completely different database schemas. Thus it makes sense to merge the
core, which is mostly compatible between SER and Kamailio, and make two
different bundles that allow people coming from Kamailio to continue
using their tested and proven configs and the same for people using SER.

Eventually, the difference will go away, but for starters this really is
the smartest way to get people to use SIP Router -- without them
actually knowing it.
