for some reason i and some other folks don't see these crashes.  i have
read lrc code and don't find anything obvious there that could cause the
crash somewhere else after next_gw() function has done its business.

i'll get rid of all do_action calls, which are dangerous to use in any
module, but i suspect that it will not help.
