IMS does not help you much. It is support in user agents what
matters. Things like proper SRV implementation, proper handling of 3xx
redirects, proper TCP connection handling, the possibility to register
with 2 servers, and so on. Designing a scalable and highly available system is
easy if you can assure that all user agents can support such features.
