[OpenSER-Devel] latest trunk openser does not start and does not tell why

today i tried to debug the db problems using the latest openser trunk.
when i start openser, all appears to be going fine, i.e., modules get
initialized, openser tells its listening addresses, etc., but then
processes don't start and even the main process that reads the config
file dies without a trace.  there is no error message whatsoever in
syslog.  the earlier trunk version that i had been using before starts
fine with the same config file.

any idea why this kind of thing might happen?  i must obviously have
done something stupid.
