I uploaded the patch fist here for allowing others to test before commit, being so close to release date, although I run couple of stress tests, a second opinion is more than welcome.

Just apply the patch then play with nonce_reuse parameter for auth module. Set to 0 for not allowing nonce reuse (new behavior) or to 1 for allowing nonce reuse (old behavior). Then stress the proxy with authentication. Thank you!
