Summary: Core Segfault

Initial Comment:
This isn't a particularly serious issue, however

Setting "children" or "tcp_children" to a high value (256 in my case) causes OpenSER to segfault

I understand that the documentation says the maximum value (for children at least) should be 32, however there doesn't seems to be any checking (and i'm not certain why 32 is the max anyways, there are a few situations where having a higher value would be useful)

What negative side effects would i experience if i set this to, say 64? (which doesn't seem to crash, but i have done no testing beyond that)
Is 32 really the maximum value?

Let me know if anyone is interested in the Core file or any additional information (reticent.lists at dream.cx)

ok - the bug is fixed on the devel version. Please give it a new try ;).

Note that if tcp is enabled (which is by default), the same number of tcp
children as udp children (children param) will be created.

I will update the wiki also.

thanks and regards,
bogdan

Hi,

it seams it's something related to TCP - if you disable tcp, you can fork
a huge number of processes (it tried with 1000).

regards,
bogdan
