i changed a couple of addf_mi_node_child calls to add_mi_node_child
calls, and after that i didn't anymore get errors.  here is an example
what lcr_dump now produces:

# openserctl fifo lcr_dump
200 OK
GW::  GRP_ID=1 URI=sip:194.98.85.1:5060 PREFIX=2745252464

prefix is still not correct.  i need to investigate more.

is there supposed to be the two :s after GW or is there something
missing in between?  i didn't find in code where they come from.
