Line 119 in
/usr/local/lib64/openser/openserctl/openserctl.fifo:

attempt=$(($attempt + 1))

when interpreted in Solaris 9 results in:

syntax error: `attempt=$' unexpected

so I had to change it to this more Solaris-friendly
command:

attempt=`expr $attempt + 1`

which seems to work.
